Introduction
RookHelm is hosted community management for operators who run fleets of Source game servers. Bans, mutes, players, and live server status live in one dashboard shared by every server you run, with Discord notifications and a public page where players can look up their ban status.
These docs stay short on purpose. The dashboard is meant to explain itself, so the guides here cover the pieces that touch things outside it: your game servers, your Discord, and your old ban database.
From zero to a connected server
Section titled “From zero to a connected server”The whole path takes about ten minutes:
- Create your account. During the private alpha, accounts are invite-only: request access and your invite arrives by email as slots open.
- Create your community. Pick a name and a lookup address, and paste a Steam API key. RookHelm uses the key for admission checks, and you can change it later in Settings.
- Install the plugin. On the Servers page, download the pre-filled plugin bundle, drop it into your game server, and restart. The install guide covers this step by step.
- Adopt the server. It appears under Pending servers within a minute. One click confirms it is yours, and bans start flowing.
The same bundle works for every server in your community, so the rest of your fleet is just steps 3 and 4 again.
When you are ready to bring in help, open Staff and invite admins, moderators, or viewers by email. Invites stay valid for seven days.
